Homeschool Registration
Annual Documentation Required to Homeschool Students in New York State
Each school year, parents/guardians must submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) to homeschool to wcsdschoolregistration@webstercsd.org. The following three items are then to be submitted annually to Homeschool_Monitoring@boces.monroe.edu:
- Individual Home Instruction Plan (IHIP)
- Quarterly Reports (4 total)
- Annual assessment
The homeschool year begins July 1 and ends June 30.
Although New York State law does not require teaching credentials for parents providing home instruction, key requirements to follow include:
- Letter of Intent (LOI) to homeschool
- Each school year submit a written notice (LOI) to the Webster CSD superintendent of schools by July 1. Send it to wcsdschoolregistration@webstercsd.org.
- New to home instruction: Submit the LOI within 14 days of beginning home instruction and every year thereafter. Send it to wcsdschoolregistration@webstercsd.org.
- Sample Letter of Intent: This can be an attachment or the body of an email.
- All required documentation must be completed and submitted before the next LOI can be accepted.
- After submitting the LOI, reach out to Monroe One BOCES Home School Monitoring at Homeschool_Monitoring@boces.monroe.edu, or visit their website, www.monroe.edu/domain/1651, for more information.
